RECOMMENDED USE - for walls and roofs with
4:12 pitch or steeper where a
premium quality product is desired. The 100% edge grain requirement exceeds the
USA national standard. The standard recommended exposure for roof applications
is 10" (254mm).

Label shakes are 100% Edge Grain, 100% Heartwood, 100% Clear. In other words
they are all vertical grain, contain no sapwood, and are free of knots and
defects.
