Type 316 Stainless Steel is recommended for use with all sawn shingles on roofs or walls within 15 miles of oceanside applications. Type 316 nails are also recommended for all Fire Retardant treated material. Type 316 stainless steel nails are the best choice against corrosion and increased holding strength for the life of your new cedar roof.
Although 3d 1-1/4" (32mm) nails of this type can also be
used for 16" and 18" shingles, we recommend upgrading to this
1-/12" (38mm) for two reasons. The longer nails are easier to handle and
added holding strength.
These nails are available by the pound and can be shipped
with any shake and shingle order. Each size of shingle requires a slightly
different quantity per bundle. Check the list below before confirming the
quantity you will need for your project. Please note that these figures are
based on the average number of shingles in a bundle and the nails in a pound.
Requirements do not vary depending on grade selected or length of exposure used
during application.
