Kiln Drying
In some markets it is traditional to kiln dry, (KD) the shingles, reducing weight for shipping and handling.
It also pre-seasons the wood and reduces shrinkage after applications. Some countries, (ie. Australia and New Zealand)
require all imported wood products to be kiln dried for agricultural quarantine reasons.
